Killzone: Mercenary - Mission 9 (Exit Wounds): Covert Contracts (walkthrough)

Contract loadout requirements: M2, M98 Flash

The mission requirements:
  • Interrogate Benoit  
  • Finish the mission in 25 minutes
  • Tranquilize and kill 15 enemies
  • Destroy all 7 propaganda speakers

Interrogate Benoit  

  • Regular Way: Shoot the "fuel rods" which Justus (the kid) rise up for you when Benoit get close to them. You than uses the opportunity when Benoit is in diz to go around and punch (melee) him in the back. Repeat this until he fall than you can finally Interrogate him like any enemy officer.
  • Alternative Way: (Not Guarantee, Might kill him), Uses the VAN-Guards: Arc Missile and shock him from a distance. Any VAN-Guards will not work if Benoit get too closes to you.       
  

Finish the mission in 25 minutes


Time is not an issues if you finish the tranquilize kill and flash grenade kill early.
   

Tranquilize and kill 15 enemies


I would recommend you to do this objective after or in between the "Flash kills objective" using the same setup/load-out which are wear the Supply Armor with the same reason as to have more ammo. It is best to finish this objective before you face and fight the two "Heavy". Now the quick way I found to do this is to shoot the tranquilizer (M2) at an enemy, don't reload, and rush and melee them. It is after you melee kill than you reload your M2.  

Flash and kill 5 enemies


I recommend you do this at the start of the mission, it best to uses "Down: Quick throw grenade" button to do this. I also high recommend you wear the Armor: Supply for extra grenade. If you did follow my recommendation, then it best to remember to not be too close when you throw the Flash grenade.

Killzone: Mercenary - Mission 5 (The Package): Covert Contracts (walkthrough)

Contract loadout requirements: Vultur

The mission requirements:
  • Stealth through the Market
  • Backstab 5 soldiers near the elevator entrance
  • Kill 20 enemies with the Vultur active
  • Stealth into the Outpost

Stealth through the Market 


This apply only when you at the "Market" until you exit the "Market".  

Remember stealth kill here. Eliminated the left side and the right side soldiers first before taking out the officer at the center. Do not kill the officer when he is still interrogating a civilian, only kill the officer after the civilian leave. Move forward a little after you kill the officer to see a new enemy will spawn in front of an enemy that already there on your radar. Move in for the kill after the spawned enemy starts walking away. Now you done and you can finally exit the "Market".
  

Backstab 5 soldiers near the elevator entrance


This apply to the 5 soldier near the the elevator entrance after the "Outpost"

It is recommend you do "stealth" on this objective and uses "Ghost" for the Van-Guard. Nothing will count for this objective even if you did backstab in this area if the alarm was rise.

There are only 5 soldiers in this area just like the objective asked. 2 soldier will not move, 2 soldier will be moving, and 1 soldier will only move when you (the player) just turn the corner. My advise is to kill all moving soldier first before the non-moving one.
   

Kill 20 enemies with the Vultur active


This is simple to do and can be finish at any time during the mission.    
      

Stealth into the Outpost

 

This apply only at the start of the mission until you reach the inside the "Outpost" structure.

Remember stealth kill here. If you move forward and shoot stealth kill everyone in the following order. soldier that trying kill a civilian, an officer, a soldier on the right, a soldier way in the back just standing, and finally the soldier on the left side.

You then move on to the next area which is the "outpost", you can switch weapon before you come here or not but before you zipline kill the sniper. You just need to enter the "Outpost" structure to complete the objective.

Killzone: Mercenary - Mission 4 (Diplomatic Incident): Covert Contracts (walkthrough)

Contract loadout requirements: Ghost, STA-7

The mission requirements:
  • Achieve 15 Ghost Generator kills
  • Kill 30 enemies with STA-7
  • Stealth to the ambassador's office
  • Get into the lobby avoiding the main entrance

Stealth to the ambassador's office


This apply from the start of the mission until you reach Ambassador's office.

Below is simple version walkthrough on how to do it.      
      

Get into the lobby avoiding the main entrance

 

This apply only at the start of the mission. Uses the ladder on the left side of the building.

Time for some stealth and stealth kills, remember stealth is all about not being see nor heard.

Embassy Main Entrance and Lobby Area:
This is the start of the mission, you can eliminated all the enemies outside the building for the kills or just bypass them by climbing the ladder on the left side of the building. Either way, you still need to climb the ladder on the left side for the "Get into the lobby avoiding the main entrance" objective. You then eliminated the officer on top before you hack a door on the left near the top of stairway to gain entrances to another room. Eliminated the two enemies in this room area and then proceeds to the next area.

Top of the courtyard and the room next to it Area:
You going stealth kills everyone here to be safe. Start with the one on the outside, then move on to the next room. After that move on to the next room and finally that same room but upstair.

Then you go through the door and kill the last enemy with a rocket. Now you free to proceed to the ambassador's office. If you see red alerted enemies on the right side of the your radar when you were killing the enemy with the rocket. You are still fine because they are alerted not by you but are fighting the ambassador's bodyguard so you still safe within the objective of stealth.

Just go and enter the ambassador's office and you be finish with "Stealth to the ambassador's office" objective.

Killzone: Mercenary - Mission 6 (Lights Out): Covert Contracts (walkthrough)

Contract loadout requirements: M133 Prox, STA-52SE

The mission requirements:
  • Plant a charge on one of the coolant pipes without triggering an alarm 
  • Achieve 5 proximity mine kills
  • Kill 40 enemies with STA-52SE rifle 
  • Destroy the jammer

Important Notes:
I'm not sure if this is a bug, a glitch, an error, or simply a secret objective that they don't tell you about. The four objective above is fairly easy to do and not so much covert if you ask me, but here the problem. I sometime when doing this Contract get stuck and unable to plant D-charge on the AA gun. The game wouldn't show the icon and let me plant it no matter what which force me to restart the mission again. It finally let me plant the D-charge on the AA gun after I restart and did something different. This problem does not show up on any other Contract which prevent you from planting the D-charge on the AA gun.

This is a theory of my but I assume it only allow you to planted the D-charge on the AA gun after you gain some "Stealth Bonus" in each area before you arrive at each AA gun. I'm not sure about this since I'm not going test it out fully. This is just an important advise for those who experiences this as well. I'm not sure if this method is true or not but getting stuck at an area before you finish the mission and restarting suck when you know you can beat it but it the game fault for not showing the icon. My advise is to gain some "Stealth Bonus" on this Contract just in case this might happen to you.

Plant a charge on one of the coolant pipes without triggering an alarm 


Just chooses one side to blow up and eliminated all enemies in that side silently before you plant your charge. Plant your charge after you eliminate all enemies on the side you going to blow up first and then push the button when you away from the blast and you done.

Achieve 5 proximity mine kills


Fairly easy to do and plenty of enemies to chose from on this mission. On this mission there time when there are no Jammer on and when there are Jammer on. If there no Jammer on then uses it normally and throw it at an area where the enemies might walk over and it will automatically trigger to blow up. If there are Jammer on then place it at area where the enemies might walk through and shoot it to trigger it to blow up.

There plenty of enemies to kill with your STA-52SE on this mission.

Destroy the jammer

 

The Jammer is located at the 2nd AA gun area; it on the left side when you first enter the 2nd AA gun area. Destroy the Jammer first before you destroy the 2nd AA gun or else the one who going pick you up will destroy it for you after you blow up the 2nd AA Gun which will then make you fail this objective.

Killzone: Mercenary - Mission 7 (Hostile Takeover): Covert Contracts (walkthrough)

Contract loadout requirements: M66

The mission requirements:
  • Kill 40 enemies with M66 SMG
  • Rescue the Helghast hostages
  • Stealth the lower roof
  • Get through the interior courtyard without triggering a proximity mine

My recommendation to bring along on this contract loadout:
  • Van-Guard Systems: X3-JMR
Weapon to swap in later to uses:
  • Primary Weapons: M33

Kill 40 enemies with M66 SMG

There more then enough enemies on this mission to spare to kill with your M66, especially near the end of the mission.

Rescue the Helghast hostages

Total number of Hostages: 6
  • 1: Under the landing platform where you landed at the start of the missions 
  • 1: After you finish "Stealth the lower roof" objective and just enter the building through a hole, before you jump down to the ground floor in another hole. Next to the hole that lead to the ground floor to the courtyard, the hostage is behind the doorway on the second floor that can look down to the courtyard. (beware of mines)  
  • 2: After you finish the "Get through the interior courtyard without triggering a proximity mine" objective and enter the building. The hostages is upstairs on the opposite side of the stair. (beware of mines on both side, surrounding the hostages)  
  • 2: When you arrive at the front of the Embassy lobby area (where you can see the front gate outside the building), go up stair.

Above is a self-made text map of the rooftop and the order you should kill the enemies in.

[0] is the sniper and should be killed with your M66 from above with a headshot. Do not jump down to where [0] position yet after you kill [0] and head back up to Back Jack and switch your gun to M33. Wait a bit so the dead body of [0] disappear, and when it does jump down to [0] position.

From [0] position, you can head shot [1], [2], & [3]. Remember [2] must be kill exactly where it is written on the map or he be spotted as a dead body.

Jump down from [0] position but have your back still touching the wall, head shot [4].

Next head toward near where you took out [2] and finally headshot [5] and [6].

Get through the interior courtyard without triggering a proximity mine

This objective start the minute you on the ground level until you enter the opposite side of the building.

The objective will not hold against you if you blow up any mines up from where you save the 2nd helghast hostage where you can look over the courtyard, because the objective did not start yet.

Just have and activate the Van-Guard: X3-JMR and you can walk through the courtyard, there will be no more mines once you reach where the Black Jack supply is. Just don't shoot or try to blow up any mines once on the ground level when the objective is activated.

Killzone: Mercenary - Mission 3 (Lightning Strike): Covert Contract (walkthrough)

Contract loadout requirements: STA-18SE

The mission requirements:
  • Kill 20 enemies with STA-18SE
  • Backstab 10 enemies
  • Destroy 10 security cameras
  • Stealth to the Generator room

Not much need to be said, there plenty of enemies on this mission to kill with your STA-18SE and backstab.

Note: Ghost will be a really helpful Van-Guard when you're trying to backstab someone.  

Destroy 10 security cameras 


Locations:
  • Outside the Open Area before the Generator Room: 3

  • Above the Generator Room: 2
  • Dish Tower, place to hack (left side): 1 (upper floor)
  • Dish Tower, place to hack (right side): 1 (upper floor)

Stealth to the Generator room


This apply from the start of the game until to the generator room.

Number of enemies you may encounter: 5

You just landed, go up stair and kill the one enemies that has his back to you. Then push the button to open a door to go to next area. When you arrive there will be 4 enemies here. Kill the one right at the door first. Then kill the sniper on the left tower next. Afterward kill the one enemy that been going in circle to the right side. Then finally the kill the sniper on the right tower. After killing all of them, remember to destroy all 3 camera in this area before you move on. Then enter through the top or bottom and you done with "Stealth to the Generator room"

Chose however you want to kill these enemies in this area but remember they must be done without being found out.

Killzone: Mercenary - Mission 1 (Justice For All): Covert Contract (walkthrough)

Contract loadout requirements: STA-7, VC-G11 Gas

The mission requirements:
  • Destroy all security cameras
  • Kill 50 enemies with STA-7 SMG
  • Smoke out the security center captain with a gas grenade
  • Stealth from the rappel until the Admiral is rescued

Stealth kills advises:
  • Kills isolated enemy
  • Make sure the killed/dead body is well hidden when they die at the location where you kill them
  • Make no noise when you kill them
  • Make sure no near by enemies can see or hear you when you kill them
  • Backstab make no sound even when an enemies buddy is near by (as in next to them)
  • Silencer gun can make some sound (dead body falling) if an enemies buddy is near by (as in next to them)

Destroy all security cameras

 

Total Security Cameras need to destroy: 8
  • Security Center Area: 5
  • Court Area: 3
    • 1 camera will be in front of you on the opposite side of the room when you rappel down from above
    • 1 camera will be in the room under the stair on your left when you rappel down from above
    • 1 camera will be in the room on your right when you rappel down from above

Kill 50 enemies with STA-7 SMG

 

Note:
  • You will not get all 50 kills until you get to the area where the tank will come; also given the fact that you have to stealth through until the Admiral once you glided and landed into the court building.
  • As long as the Tank is alive, enemies will continue to spawn (if you did not get enough kills earlier in your mission) 


Smoke out the security center captain with a gas grenade

 

  • You can not open the vent if the enemies are alerted and rise the alarm, meaning you have to stealth through here.
  • The vent valve to open the vent is behind the mount gun position corner, one floor up.     


Stealth from the rappel until the Admiral is rescued

 

Excluding the camera part and speed through only in which way to go and enemies to kills.

After you rappel down, kill the one on left and the right side first. Then kill the one moving around in circle in the center and then kill the one at the center.

Go to the room under the stair on the left side. Kill the officer first, then the one outside the door moving around, then finally the one doing computer work across the room where the officer was at.

Now head back to the court and up the stair to unlock the door to the right side. Go through the unlock door and wait at the door way outside in front of the camera. Wait and kill the one enemy that will come in. Then move on and kill the two enemy outside this room on the same floor as you, ignore the mounted gunner on top.

The door that will lead to the Admiral, you wait on the side. The door will open and one enemy will walk out. Kill him when he stop walking/moving, then enter the room and you done doing stealth.

Killzone: Mercenary - Mission 8 (Blood Money): Covert Contract (walkthrough)

Contract loadout requirements: Ghost

The mission requirements:
  • Save the scientist in Lab 01
  • Escape the Vault without being detected
  • Stealth through Lab 02
  • Achieve 15 Ghost Generator kills
My recommendation to bring along on this contract loadout: M98 Flash. This will be necessary grenade when it come to saving the scientist in Lab 01. For more detail, it will be written down below. The hardest part for me is trying to solve how to save the scientist and getting out of the vault without being detected. It took awhile but I solve it with simple trial and error and it can be done even for a noob. (I'm a noob in joystick control, remember). There not much stealth in this overall mission since you can go all loud with your weapons most of the time expect some part which will be written below.       

Save the scientist in Lab 01

Outside of Lab 01
It a bit tricky but the goal is to prevent the scientist from dying until you (the player) eliminated his threat. I found two way where the game will indicate that you finish "Save the scientist in Lab 01" and I will stated both of them since one of the two can happen using the method I about to write. Also this method sometime require you to reload to the previous checkpoint if you fail to throw where you want it and it got the scientist dead.

While outside the Lab 01, you got a choices between going up the ladder on the left or through the door. Chose the door, but before you enter make sure your "Ghost" is activated or at less fully charge to be uses and you have M98 Flash with you. Enter the door and activated your "Ghost" if you have not already and get ready to throw the flash. When the door open, throw the flash between the 2 ISA soldiers in front of you. The following can happen and both will count as "Save the scientist in Lab 01" by the game. One: you and the two ISA soldiers in front of you get flash and when you finally open your eyes, the scientist disappear (run away). Or Two: you don't get flash by your own flash and you gun down those two ISA soldiers while the scientist is still alive but flashed, and when you finish shooting those two. The game will tell you done. At this points whether the scientist get shot or not doesn't matter anymore.

Escape the Vault without being detected

Note: this may take several try before you succeed, this all about timing.

Now let get started then: After you hack to get the sample, you were told to put demo charge here. Go put the charge on the right side first then put the last charge on the left. There a reason why in this order. Now your radar dies along with your Van-Guard system, which mean the Admiral and her men are here.

After you place the 2nd charge on the left side, wait a second or two. Then head up stair (left side) behind you. Upstairs there is a Black Jack and walkway behind it, Head toward that.

Made sure there is an ISA soldier standing there, if not your timing is off. If the solider is there, head in front of him and melee him. After killing him, hide behind the pillar. Wait about one to two seconds to see if they spawn another soldier to the walkway. If not, head toward the second pillar and you home free. Exit the Vault. 

Stealth through Lab 02

On top of Lab 02
"Ghost", that the answer for this, fairly easy if you know the route to walk while ghost.

When you enter Lab 02, turn right and when you see a climbable pipe. Climb it. Continue to walk straight on top until there no more place to walk. Go Ghost, then "walk/hope" down. Continue walking straight ahead while staying on the right side and you find the "exit/broken" hole a little bit to the left. Jump in and you done.

Achieve 15 Ghost Generator kills

This should be fairly easy to get and assuming you being ghosting since the start and recharging when possible. You should be able to get all 15 kill before arriving at Lab 02, if you have not forgotten to turn it on.

Killzone: Mercenary - Mission 2 (Code of Engagement): Covert Contract (walkthrough)

Contract loadout requirements: M33

The mission requirements:
  • Stealth through the wing
  • Headshot 5 snipers with M33 sniper rifle 
  • Backstab 10 enemies
  • Stealth through the zipline
My recommendation to bring along on this contract loadout: Van-Guard: Ghost.

It be extremely hard to do without this Van-Guard, I’m not saying it not possible but hard, real hard. Now the whole 1st part of the mission right off the bat require both patience and timing for the player to get through it since you can neither be seen, heard, or alert the enemies or else you fail. You will finish 3 of the mission requirement by the time you reach the server room. I will write a walkthrough from the start of the mission until to the server room, which by then you finishes 3 of the mission requirement using my play-style walkthrough for this mission contract, I will break them down  in section for easy to understand, I hope.

I like to noted that if you are seen while trying to kill using backstab while doing the Stealth part in this mission, you only got 1 second to kill that person off or else you fail in the Stealth.

Stealth through the wing:

This applies from the moment you step into the ship until you outside the server room.

You can do this any times throughout the mission and it much easier if you in “ghost” mode to do it.

Stealth through the zipline

This applies from the start of the mission until you on top of the zipline platform.

Like I stated above, I will write up until to the front of the server room, and below is list of the area sections that I’ve name for easy to understand:
  • Broken building area (outside) 
  • Broken building area (inside)
  • Park and stair area
  • Zipline area
  • Wing section area
Floor will be written as ground floors, 1st floor, 2nd floor, 3rd floor, and top/4th floor.


Broken building area (outside) 

This is assuming you have “Ghost” but if you don’t that fine as well, because I done this section with and without ghost. But this will be written with “ghost”.
  • Number of enemies: 3 grunt (1 on the 1st floor, 2 on the 2nd floor).
This is the start of the mission and the first enemy you encounter has his back turn to you, you can wait until he walk away or stab him now; both will be backstab either way (no ghost require here).

The next is go up to the 2nd floor where the 2 enemies are (ghost before you up, if you have it) and backstab the one when he get to the location where he is looking out into the direction where you just came from on the boat before the mission started. Then turn 180 degree and hide behind the wall and wait a few second before the 2nd grunt come in and has his back facing you and then stab him. Note: on the 2nd floor part, it can be done without ghost. It require looking at the radar and timing (because I done it before but really hard).

Broken building area (inside)

This is assuming you have “Ghost” but if you don’t that fine as well, because I done this section with and without ghost. But this will be written with “ghost”.
  • Number of enemies: 7 [3 Sniper, 4 Grunt]; (1 sniper: top/4th floor, 2 sniper: 2nd floor; 4 grunt on the ground floor but 1 of them will come up to the 2nd floor).

Now that you done killing the previous 2 grunt, you will proceed to the next part by jumping into a broken hole to get to next section which is the “Broken building area (inside)”. You see a Black Jack supply in front of you before you turn the corner and meet 1 enemy sniper with his back turn to you, snipe him with the sniper rifle. You stay in this location where you just “headshot” your 1st sniper and snipe people from here.

After killing your 1st sniper, you will see another sniper across the building on the same floor as you; he will not see you unless you go to the ground floor. Go snipe this sniper next. At this point, you should go to the back room and enter Black Jack supply just to save a checkpoint to not make a mistake or you should save after every kill in this area.

Next after killing the 2nd sniper, on the same building side there is a grunt on the ground floor walking back and forth and only stopping when he reaches his normal patrol point. Now there is Black Jack supply on that ground floor where he will pass, he wll stand in front of the bar counter. You snipe this grunt when he stop in front of the bar counter. You can kill this 1 grunt first or the 2nd sniper first, either one is fine. 

Now assuming you kill the 2 above enemies quickly or not, start paying attention to your radar as 1 grunt will come up to where you are as one of his patrol. Go ghost before he come up and stab/melee him in front when he half way up; while still in ghost snipe the rest of the 2 grunt on the ground floor starting with the nearest to you to the furthest. By now there only the 1 sniper on the top/4th floor left.

If you good with sniping, snipe him from below, if not or you don’t want make a mistake at this point climb up the stair from the left side (the same side where kill your first sniper). Then snipe him when you on his floor without being seen. Once done jump down to the next area.

Park and stair area

  • Number of enemies: 3 (1 officer, 2 grunt)
The minute you jump down (left side, it easier) and turn the corner, you meet 1 officer with it back to you. Snipe him, and go further a little and turn right and snipe the grunt on your right. Finally snipe the final grunt in front of you that bit further ahead of you. Now no more enemies, and proceed to the stair to the zipline. Once you jump down from the stair and onto the zipline platform, the game will tell you that you just finish: “Stealth through the zipline”.

Note: If you come from the right side, the number of enemies will be the same but the arrangement of the enemies will make stealth a little harder if you don’t move fast. That why I say go to the left side.

Zipline area

  • Number of enemies (w/o alert): 4 grunt 
  • Number of enemies added to the scene when alerted (whether you slide down the zipline or not): 5 sniper
  • Number of enemies added when alerted (when you finally slide down from the zipline): 8 (6 grunt, 2 sniper)
In this area, you can go all out and doesn’t have to worry about a thing call Stealth, because if you kill the 4 grunt in this area without alerting anyone then no enemies will spawn until you enter the “Wing section area” which is not good if you trying to headshot some snipers and also because you will not have enough sniper headshot if you miss this area of sniper.

So when you in the zipline area, don’t slide down the zipline and start shooting/sniping from above. First off first, purposely miss a shot to alert the enemies or blow a barrel up. You just need to alert the enemies, don’t care how you do it. Once alert, several enemies will show up. Head shot 2 more sniper and you done with “Headshot 5 snipers with M33 sniper rifle” if you follow this walkthrough up until now. There enough sniper here for it.

Now slide down the zipline when everyone dead; this will spawn some more snipers and grunts. Make sure you kill every enemy before you enter the “wing section area” or else they will cause problem for you such as alert those inside when they spawn while doing Stealth.

Wing section area

  • Number of enemies: 4 (3 grunt, 1 officer)
Order of the enemy will be like this from closest to you to the farthest: grunt, officer, grunt, grunt.

Ok let get started then, first off you ghost here or not up to you.

You kill the closest enemy (grunt) by sniping him when he all the way on the right side or backstab.

If you ghosting kill the 1st grunt first before ghosting (uses the method above) and time your jump all the way to the end, remember when you jumping you will be visible. You may need to kill the last grunt at the end through melee.

Another method is uses Mantys Engine to do the killing.

Kill (snipe) the officer when he at one of the side whiles the second grunt next to him is further away and looking away.

Now snipe the furthest grunt that in the back when he all the way on the right side or the second grunt when he in the center doing computing (the one after the officer), whichever one give you the best shot first.

Now finally snipe the last grunt. You could try to backstab him but who will take the risk. Now I being sniping all the enemy from the same section as the Black Jack location, only moving around to get the right angle from left to right on my side.

Now all the enemies are dead, just head toward the server room and when you outside the server room, the game will tell you that you just finish “Stealth through the wing

That all the walkthrough I will write because all that left is backstabbing a few more enemies which can be easily done by ghosting. And finish the mission.
