Trying Hard Cider [Alcoholic Beverage] (for me, the non-drinker)

Hah, let see my comments about alcoholic beverage, the non-drinker, and the stuff I try and if you interested; you can compare it to people who drink and their comments.

Most of these Hard Cider are bought through my local area store; I will stated if they are bought from an online site store (that can and will actually ship hard cider).

Reason Why I Believe/Assume Why the Official Web Site (of those Cider Companies) Don't lists their Full Product List on their site (I also going to assume it's a either a combination of theses from the guess work of my):

  • Not bother with the web site to be up-to-date
  • Limited Release
  • Special Release

  • Unavailable in the Counties where it sell it, (while it is available in other countries)

[What 5% Alcohol By Volume, One Whole Bottle (355 ml) effect on My Body (in one sitting): Self-Diagnostic/Investigate]
  • Sleepy or Drowsy: lasts a while, like 30 odd minute or so, didn't count nor was I paying attention on how long it lasted. This was how long I felt it lasted or assume it lasted.
  • Headache: Didn't last long, like a few minute in the beginning.
  • Heat-up or Warm Face: Didn't last long, like a few seconds to minutes depend.
  • Increase Heart Rate: Last the same length as the drowsiness

Afterthought (After Tasting #1-7): So far, the one I like the best is Taste #5, follow by Taste #4. Most of them taste about the same. Since they taste about the same, the one with the strongest flavor so far would be Taste #1.
Afterthought (After Tasting #1-11): Since most of these cider that I've try so far taste about the same with only a few minor difference that an expert can pick out (me no expert, as stated me is non-drinker). I can only stated the strength of the flavor and what not. Here how I view it from the strongest flavor to the weaker flavor cider so far, I will not lists anything that doesn't taste similar to these cider.

Afterthought (After Tasting #1-14): Since I'm no expert there will be time where I will just states "it taste like cider" because those cider are probably taste like average cider to me, neither strong in flavor nor weak in flavor for my taste bud to tell the difference.
Afterthought (After Tasting #1-29) [06-10-2016 (this comment posted date)]: After tasting these amount of hard cider, I'm pretty sure what most hard cider usually taste like so I try tasting a "cider" (side picture) that non-alcoholic and see if it similar as hard cider. Result of the taste test from that non-alcoholic cider (side picture) are that it taste like or more like it is an apple juice. A natural apple juice taste without any added stuff.
Afterthought (After Tasting #1-37) [06-18-2016] I feel that most of the USA hard cider I try so far are leading toward the sweet side with a certain degree difference between brands. While the imported hard cider (mostly from UK from this lists) are more or less dry and/or with bitter sweetness to them.
Afterthought (After Tasting #1-90) [08-06-2016] I assume that most hard cider are made in a mix variety of apple breed, so when I find a hard cider that uses one type of apple variety as stated on the label. Those type are usually less flavorful then their "original" version if they have such a version or similar of withing that hard cider brand. However single variety hard cider are never bland and will rarely seen as dry as far as the current taste test of my goes.
Afterthought (After Tasting #1-116) [08-20-2016]: Well, so far within my personal taste tests there are few tastes I do not like and/or understand and will probably will not try again if ask to unless I have to and they are: #24, #25, #26, #52, #54, #60, #68, #73, #78, #93, #94, and #110.

Taste #1:
  • Pre-Taste Predictions (before drinking it and reading what other stated and my own thought): Sweet and taste like apple flavor?
  • First and/or Only Impression (if I only try one bottle): 
    • Sweet?: couldn't taste any
    • Apple Flavor?: Wouldn't call it fresh apple flavor, it's more closer to a rotten apple flavor.
    • Other Tastes and Thought: Carbonated and a somewhat small bitterness  
  • Final Thought (If there are more then one bottle and I wish to continue to reevaluate my 1st impression): Calling it rotten flavor is very inaccurate of me however I just don't know what to call it. I still sticking with my original personal taste judgement with only changing my wording for the rotten part. I don't know how to call it but let leave it as unique fruit flavor of an apple.

  • Pre-Taste Predictions: A spiciness of the ginger flavor
  • First and/or Only Impression: A weak apple cider flavor along with something that doesn't taste like ginger flavor. I can only assume they dilute the ginger flavor because I can't taste any but you can kind of smell the ginger like smell but barely. For those who never have ginger in their food before (not talking about me) would probably can't tell about the ginger flavor.

In term of how strong the flavor factor is, it come real close to Taste #1 and Taste #10 but it just short of it by at least a level. It does however beat them by having sweetness and tanginess to this cider that the others does not have much of.

  • First and/or Only Impression: After knowing the taste of cider from all the other previous taste tests, I'm pretty sure I know what cider smell like and taste like and so I can stated that this cider has a mild yet strong cider smell to it. The taste and flavor of this cider however depend on how you drink it, but overall the flavor is that it has no flavor overwhelming or overall. It not that it got no flavor but it like this: I drink it, flavor appear for a few second but then it disappear. This cider is neither sweet nor bitter but simply a bland taste.

  • First and/or Only Impression: This time it actually has the taste of ginger (compare to Taste #7). The taste of the ginger flavor of this cider compare to a real ginger would be that this ginger flavor cider is on the mild side. A real ginger would not be this mild. With that comment stated, I would move on with this cider overall taste. This cider has a mild ginger flavor however my taste bud couldn't taste much cider flavor, so you can say it mostly ginger.

  • First and/or Only Impression: First off I like to stated that I have very little experience eating honey and/or honey product but I do know that not all honey taste the same. I know this because I remember going to a farmer market and sampling some in the past. With that said, if the taste I'm tasting is honey in this cider than it quite nice. The honey give this cider a unique sweetness of it's own while being mild at best on the sweet factor. This cider doesn't has the usual tanginess which doesn't bother me much.

  • First and/or Only Impression: This hard cider has a flower smell to it, while the taste on the other hand (according to my taste bud) taste like a mix berries flavor (very fruity but not that overly sweet).
  • Note (if I have more comment to add that has nothing to do with tasting but more of where I got it): According to the producer/maker of this hard cider official web site, this hard cider is a "Seasonal" hard cider even though it's not stated on the bottle label.

  • First and/or Only Impression: I would describe this cider as the following; when drinking/swallowing this hard cider you will taste "cider" but when you stop drinking/swallowing, all flavor and taste end. You will taste nothing even if it still in your mouth. That how I experience this cider as this way. To put it in comparison, TASTE #13 would have more flavor than this and the taste would last longer in your mouth. This cider just stop all flavor the second you stop drinking/swallowing. Oh, I should mention as the label stated it is bittersweet.

  • First and/or Only Impression: Just the smell alone, you can smell the bitterness in the air. It's definitely bitter and I confirm it by tasting it, however probably because I’m not uses to the taste I can’t taste the sweet in the bittersweet part. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t has sweet in it, the sweet part come as an lingering aftertaste; minor but neither-the-less it there. If you're wondering how bitter it is; for me it on the average bitterness scales or it the same level when a dark chocolate started to get bitter on those cacao's percentage.

  • First and/or Only Impression: Smell like ginger and taste like ginger, overwhelming ginger all round. I could barely taste any cider because that how overwhelming the ginger were. Now about the ginger itself on this cider; compare to all my previous taste tests that has ginger on the label. This is the only one that has the ginger aftereffect in the aftertaste. It like that effect with mint and peppermint, ginger also has that ability with the expectation of it natural spiciness in it.

  • First and/or Only Impression: I can't said much about it because there an unidentified flavor for the inexperience me to describe to give an opinion. I could however describe how it go down my throat; I would describe it as clump of flavor, not smooth. I can only assume it a type of cider (apple) flavor that I never try before and though I am puzzle by it. Flavors aside, I don't like how it was not smooth when I drink it (opinion wise).

  • First and/or Only Impression: It been a while but this has the same strong smell as Taste #1. The best I could describe it is "Sour?", the taste on the other hand are underwhelming.You can only taste anything as long you are drinking it but once you stop no flavor can be felt. Even when you taste the flavor it not that strong of a flavor. The flavor when you can taste it, is "oaky" as I like to call it or something like that with small hint of minor bitterness which could hardly be felt when drinking it.

It not bittersweet but it minor bitterness with sweetness in it. On another note, I can't taste any cider (apple) flavor in this beverage beside the mention flavor above.

  • Note: According to the Cider Locator on the Official Web Site (Stores that willing to stated they sell this cider in their stores); stated that most are sold in-store around the State of California and in selective cities in neighboring State of Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii.

  • First and/or Only Impression: Light, that the word that pop in my head when I tasted it. Yes it smooth going down but light is another word I would describe this cider. This hard cider is sweet without a doubt and maybe too sweet for some people. It has the lightness of juice effect but none of the juice flavor. This taste like any other cider expect sweeter.

  • First and/or Only Impression: I say this is the first Angry Orchard that I try so far that not overbearing with flavor nor it is weak, opinion wise. Opinion wise this hard cider is well balance. I may not taste the cherries or orange peel or know what bourbon taste like but it did something to this cider to be in the middle ground in term of flavor if you compare this to Taste #1 and Taste #2. I also like to noted that I have and tasted cherries (fruit) and (dry) orange peel before but I just can't taste them with my weak taste bud in this cider.

Now I don't taste any maple and I can only assume I'm tasting a strong flavor of yeast on this hard cider.
