What does (USA) Hard Cider [Alcoholic Beverage] Tastes Like?

Note: I do not and will not promote drinking or underage drinking.
These information is based on my own personal experiences and taste tests; all is based on my personal opinions. Currently I will only talk about "apple" only hard cider taste and not any other hard cider with added ingredients such as spices/herbs or other fruits.

Most of the (USA) hard cider I try so far fall under these category:
  • Taste like "Hard Cider" - Ya I know. You will say "that doesn't explain anything at all!" But that the only explanation I can explain because I couldn't remember or find any foods or beverages that has similar taste. You need to personally taste it to understand it (I don't promote drinking).
  • Taste like "Hard Cider" plus Juices like flavor- depend on the "Brand" that make it like this, the juices percentage vary. These type of hard cider has a high percentage of being sweet because of the juice flavor. (I don't promote drinking).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard Cider in general should be leading toward sweet because it uses apple (fruit) as the bases but it also depend on the apple species the Brand uses so read the label if stated.

Bases on my taste test so far (TASTE #1-55), the (USA) hard cider is generally leading toward the sweet side. But they can be further break down into category as the following:
  • Sweet : The general notion
  • Semi-Sweet: unless stated on the label, usually people will state they either Sweet or Dry. This type of cider either lead toward sweet or bittersweet while having bland like taste, Dry is just an extra if it there.
  • Dry: This is not a flavor but more of an effect, if stated on the label it just mean that beverage will lose all flavor and taste of flavor not long after it enter your mouth.
  • Bittersweet: it depend on the Brand and it usually do not appear in the bigger (US) Hard cider brand unless stated on the label of those brand. Bittersweet is as stated bittersweet and usually come from the apple species itself that make it bittersweet.
