How to get detail picture of the moon or Night Sky

You often see very nice picture online or in books of the moon with minor moon landscape feature. I don't remember if I stated in the earlier blog when I stated I wanted take picture of the moon. So did some average research both online and offline (books) to find out what I need beside a camera.
The result are the following:

Books Stated:
  • DSLR Camera
  • Type of Lens (not stated, but most likely telephoto len), They only stated the F-number, and shutter speed. Not very helpful when this is the most important thing

Online Stated:
  •  DSLR Camera or Point and Shoot Camera (But no example of Point & Shoot Picture anywhere online or at least not stated)
  • Telephoto Lens (I uses 70-300mm telephoto lens, but it seem that I need an even more powerful telephoto lens beyond 300mm which also been stated they [online] used 800mm)
Well, I have nagging feeling that people uses telescope with the right attachment for the camera to mount on instead of telephoto lens to get those nice detail picture of the moon or the night sky. I know that a camera (depend on the camera) can be attach to a telescope (with the right require attachment equipment) but none of the sources from the above research stated this fact. I finally found my answer a few days ago when it was stated in this [Images] description box.

In Conclusion, if you want detail picture of the night sky or the moon uses:
  • DSLR Camera with a telephoto lens higher then 300mm or with telescope attachment
  • Point & Shoot Camera or Webcam [these are Maybe] with a telescope attachment [these are maybe since they (most of these type of camera) don't often have the right equipment to attach to a telescope]
    • Remember that camera attachment equipment to telescope are sold separately.
